Thioctic Acid EP Impurity B bezeichnet eine hydratisierte, oligomere schwefelhaltige Spezies, die mit dem Abbau von Lipoinsäure und/oder prozessbedingter Polymerisation verknüpft ist. Sie wird durch die empirische Schreibweise H2O[C8H14OS2]n mit einer Wiederholungseinheit von 190.33 n und einem terminalen Wasseranteil von 18.02 beschrieben. Der Stoff ist eher als Stofffamilie höherer Oligomere denn als einzelne definierte Verbindung zu verstehen.
