Also known as Salicylamide or 2-hydroxybenzamide is chemically known as 2-Hydroxy-benzamide that is used in the synthesis of Deferasirox which is an iron chelator that is used to control chronic iron overload due to blood transfusion and in the treatment of transfusional iron overload due to blood transfusions such as -thalassemia or sickle cell disease and various chronic anemias.
