Gamma-Butyrolactone(CAS No: 96-48-0) or dihydrofuran-2(3H)-one, Gamma-Butyrolactone is an impurity present in N Methylpyrrolidone, Gamma-Butyrolactone hormones regulate antibiotic production in many Streptomyces species, also it induced longer loss of righting reflex in mice (LS-line), which has selectively bred for greater sensitivity to ethanol than in less sensitive SS-line mice.
