N-Nitroso Pantoprazole
It is one of impurity present in Pantoprazole, Pantoprazole is a proton-pump inhibitor, Pantoprazole exerts its stomach acid-suppressing effects by preventing the final step in gastric acid production by covalently binding to sulfhydryl groups of cysteines found on the (H+, K+)-ATPase enzyme at the secretory surface of the gastric parietal cell. As the binding of pantoprazole to the (H+, K+)-ATPase enzyme is irreversible and a new enzyme needs to be expressed to resume acid secretion, pantoprazole’s duration of antisecretory effect. which is used to treat erosive esophagitis and gastric acid hypersecretion, and to promote the healing of tissue damage caused by gastric acid.
