1-[[3-(4,7-Dihydro-1-methyl-7-oxo-3-propyl-1H-pyrazolo [4,3-d]pyrimidine-5-yl)-4-ethoxy phenyl]sulfonyl]-piperazine
It is an impurity present in Sildenafil. Sildenafil is a phosphodiesterase inhibitor, sildenafil prevents the breakdown of cyclic guanosine monophosphate by inhibiting cGMP-specific phosphodiesterase type 5. The result of doing so allows cGMP to present in both the penis and pulmonary vasculature to elicit smooth muscle relaxation and vasodilation that relieve pulmonary arterial hypertension and increased the flow of blood into the spongy erectile tissue of the penis that consequently allows it to grow in size and become erect and rigid, which is used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction.
