29636-87-1: 4-Hydroxymethyl-5-methylimidazole

4 Hydroxymethyl 5 methylimidazole (CAS No: 29636-87-1) or (4-methyl-1H-imidazol-5-yl)methanol is a derivative of Cimetidine. Cimetidine exerts its assisting effects on acid-peptic disorders by blocking gastric acid secretion. The property of cimetidine to block histamine-stimulated acid secretion is present due to its antagonistic effect on parietal cells’ H2 receptors. Cimetidine inhibits the effects of gastrin and acetylcholine by interrupting the pathway.
