Also known as Metoprolol Acid or Atenolol Related Compound C, it is one of impurity present in Atenolol, Atenolol is a second-generation beta-1-selective adrenergic antagonist that reduces heart rate and decreases myocardial contractility. It is FDA-approved and indicated in treating hypertension, angina pectoris, and acute myocardial infarction, also affects higher doses by competitively blocking beta-2-adrenoreceptors located in the bronchial and vascular musculature. atenolol increases the end-diastolic pressure and left ventricular fiber lengths conversely resulting in increased oxygen demand.
