It is a degradation of ciprofloxacin. Ciprofloxacin has an antibiotic action and is evaluated to treat bacterial infections such as urinary tract infections and pneumonia. Ciprofloxacin is also useful for treating urinary tract infections, sexually transmitted infections (gonorrhea and chancroid), skin, bone, and joint infections, and typhoid fever.
