Also known as L-Alanine, (2S)-2-Aminopropanoic Acid, (S)-(+)-Alanine, (S)-2-Aminopropanoic Acid, Lactamine, α-Alanine or (2S)-2-Aminopropanoic Acid. Enalapril is a prodrug that is hydrolyzed after absorption to form the active angiotensin-converting enzyme Enalaprilat. It is administered orally. It decreases blood pressure by lowering peripheral resistance without increasing heart rate. It is well tolerated and safe.
