7458-08-4: Clomipramine EP Impurity E (Nitroso Impurity)
Also known as N-Nitrosoiminodibenzyl, it is an impurity present in Clomipramine. Clomipramine is a dibenzazepine derivative tricyclic antidepressant, that works exclusively by inhibiting the reuptake of the neurotransmitters norepinephrine and serotonin by nerve cells. It is thought that changes occur in receptor sensitivity in the cerebral cortex and hippocampus. The hippocampus is part of the limbic system a part of the brain involved in emotions. which is an effective analgesic for different types of pain, especially neuropathic or neuralgic pain.
