Salbutamol EP Impurity J, also designated Salbutamol BP Impurity J, Salbutamone HCl, or Albuterol Related Compound B (HCl salt), is the hydrochloride salt of a ketone analog of salbutamol, CAS 41489-89-8. With molecular formula C13H20ClNO3 and molecular weight 273.76 g/mol, it represents an oxidative or synthetic transformation product formed by conversion of the benzylic alcohol functionality to the corresponding carbonyl group. This impurity is relevant in impurity profiling of beta2-agonist materials and may be resolved by LC-MS/MS, HPLC with photodiode array detection, and confirmatory GC-MS after derivatization.References
