Clarithromycin EP Impurity I (CAS No: 118058-74-5) or Des(cladinosyl) Clarithromycin is a degradation product of Clarithromycin. Clarithromycin is a broad-spectrum macrolide antibacterial agent and shows good activity against the major pathogens that cause respiratory tract infections in immunocompetent patients. It is highly active against pathogens causing atypical cases of pneumonia-like Chlamydia pneumoniae, and Legionella spp. and has similar activity to other macrolides against Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, Moraxella catarrhalis, and Streptococcus pneumoniae.
