Clarithromycin is an acid-stable and orally taken macrolide antimicrobial drug and is structurally similar to erythromycin. It has a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity and blocks an array of Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms especially atypical pathogens and some anaerobes.
